The demise of the leaf

I wondered what was attacking the small birch sapling in a pot! All the leaves of several branches had been stripped off in no time at all. Does anyone know what butterfly or moth these little demons belong to?

Update: These appear to be the larvae of the Saw Fly and their bodies arch over their heads in a defence mechanism.
