Wood Cauliflower

Had a nice walk in the New Forest with daughter and her boyfriend before travelling back to Buckinghamshire. We went to see the tallest Redwoods in England. Around them the fungi were starting to appear, including this specimen of Cauliflower Fungus, Sparassis crispa, which is usually found at the base of conifers. This one was only about 20cm across, they can get to be twice that size - a whole meal if you can be bothered cleaning all the grit out.
