Ready for the fungi

I was hoping to find lots of fungi today, but the woods are really dry and I struggled to spot much of interest. One exception was this enormous cluster of brackets known as Dryad's Saddle. It is a really widespread fungus and is apparently perfectly good to eat if collected young, but this one was far too leathery to try. I didn't imagine I'd be hoping for rain on the first day of autumn, but it would be nice to get some tomorrow.
