Day 33 – Terra Nova National Park, Newfoundland

Yet another long drive day today. It is approximately 560 miles from St John’s to Port-Aux-Basques (where we will catch a ferry back to Nova Scotia) so we decided to split this over two days and spend the night in Botwood, about 240 miles away.

We stopped off at Terra Nova National Park for a short walk around a lake and along the coast. Here we spotted another chipmunk. Although we are yet to see a single moose or bear, we have seen plenty of these cheeky little things! Chipmunks look like small squirrels, but they are so full of character! They are very inquisitive and some even followed us on our walks! They are extremely quick and scatty and make a funny but very loud noise that sounds like a bird. We could have watched them for hours.

As they are so quick and constantly moving, it was hard to get a good photo, but Michael managed to snap this great one just before the chipmunk launched himself onto another tree!
