Dover Approaches

We had such a lovely sail yesterday with our friends Joanna and Peter. We had thought we would make Dover but it started to get quite chilly as the sun went down and the tide turned against us so we dived into Ramsgate for the night. Autumn seems to have come all of a sudden. Last week shorts and T-shirts, this week fleeces and boots !
We caught the tide to Dover , about 18 miles away and sailed under jib in a heavy drizzle.
It's always great to get into Dover harbour and the sheltered marina. Port Control are incredibly helpful and give very explicit instructions about where to wait and when to enter harbour avoiding all the cross channel ferries
