0804 to Leeds

This was the last, out of a triplet, of my stranger portraits on holiday in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

It was difficult not to spot Elena amongst the hoards of tourists on that sunny morning in the old town. She was taking photos of the small fountain at one end of the old town with her instant when I approached her. She was alone so I asked if she would like to be in the picture.

"Oh yes, that'd be nice but without all the people"

I laughed and said that may be a tough feet. It was high-season and the cruise crowds (of several thousands) were rushing into the town as we spoke.

Elena herself was not a tourist as I suspected, but in fact Croatian, having moved to Dubrovnik to pursue career opportunities.

An elegant and charming lady, I was glad to have stopped and chatted to her, and even better that she was a local as I mentioned in my previous portraits, I didn't want to photograph tourists who may have ended up being from anywhere really. The goal was to photograph locals and it had paid off.
