On A Freight Train Leaving Town

Wow I feel so disconnected from blip lately!!
Finally got a chance to take a photo today after my hospital visit.

The show opens this Friday, excited but really nervous! After all the hype from the show is over I will hopefully be able to take more photos frequently. The show will be playing for 2 weeks so anyone who is in western Sydney who would like to be entertained and go on a journey back to the 80's I can give you the details, come and say hi :-)

Waiting for the train today this very loud freight train came rushing by and as I am a country girl at heart Merle Haggard's "Mama Tried" began playing in my head.

Haven't had a whole lot of a sleep these past few days with rehearsals going until after midnight and early wake up calls to go visit nan so I must bid you adieu but I promise to come back on as soon as possible and catch up with every one.

Hope you're all keeping well :-)

Mama Tried

First thing I remember knowin' was a lonesome whistle blowin'
And the youngest dream of growin' up to ride
On a freight train leaving town not knowing where I'm bound
And no one could change my mind, but mama tried.

One and only rebel child for my family meek and mild
My mama seemed to know what lay in store
Inspite of all my Sunday learnin'
Toward the bad I kept on turnin'
Till mama couldn't hold me anymore.

I turned twenty one in prison doing life without parole
No one could steer me right, but mama tried, mama tried.
Mama tried to raise me better but her pleading I denied
That leaves only me to blame, 'cause mama tried.

Dear old daddy, rest his soul, left my mom a heavy load
She tried so very hard to fill his shoes
Workin' hours without rest, wanted me to have the best
She tried to raise me right but I refused.

I turned twenty one in prison doing life without parole
No one could steer me right, but mama tried, mama tried.
Mama tried to raise me better but her pleading I denied
That leaves only me to blame, 'cause mama tried...
