Bike and a bridge
Hired a bike from Apt and cycled along a disused railway converted into a wonderful cycle path. It's tarmac all the way, flat and traffic free. It follows the River Calavon that runs fron east of Apt to Cavaillon and from there into the Rhone I assume. There was no water in it today!
The picture shows my sturdy steed ( it was heavy!) posing in front of the Pont Julien which crosses the Calavon and has done since the 3rd century BC when the Romans built it as part of the Via Domitia that ran from Italy into northern France. Amazingly it was used by cars until 2005 when a bypass bridge was built close by. One can still cycle over it; so I did twice. They built things to last those Romans.
