Major Oak

We headed more into the land of Robin Hood & went to Sherwood Forest today.

The weather was beautiful (no need for sleeves) & with leaves starting to change colour the walk into the forest was lovely (as was a picnic by the tree itself!)

Major Oak is famously known for being one of the oldest trees in the world at 800-1000 years old. According to legend it sheltered Robin Hood & his merry men and is thought to weigh over 23 tons and has a girth of over 10m. Certainly glad to have paid a visit.
