"Inmates For The Day"...

...Yes. we just had to go out to the Gaol interstate at Wentworth today - the Old Wentworth Gaol built during 1879-1881..and which ceased to operate well over 70 years ago...

...The Old Gaol gives the impression that it could still be used - in fact it was used - in 1962, when there was a riot here..and a few experienced the hospitality there...

...Our Grand daughters had a wonderful time going in and out of the old cells - cool on a hot day such as today, and would have been so cold in the winter...

...I couldn't keep up with them to get a pic of them together - inside, as there was so much to see there and as they were encouraged to put on the replica garb. of the day for a pic by the curator - they didn't hesitate - and so here they are, not on the 'flogging rack' (!) - or the 'stocks'...but about to enter the Womens Prison...

...Just to have a good look around and appreciate just part of what the women prisoners would have experienced, not so long ago really...
