McMillan Cancer Care......

......is a charity close to my heart!

This Friday is their Big Coffee Morning, and I am waitress and dogsbody at my friend's house. They turn their house into a cafe for the morning, they go to tremendous trouble...... they have lots of china teasets which have been found at sales of work etc. and they keep them in the attic for use on this special day. Also cake stands, there is something special about cake stands and they make the table look so special.

Each year she produces a recipe book with recipes given by friends, family and anyone she can coerce into donating one, and these books are very popular locally. I alsway sell some for her, in fact I am her star saleslady I am proud to say.

Anyhow, today I received a batch ahead of the day, as I have a friend who buys a dozen each year...... she gives them to her family as a small token at New Year.

This year we are all fundraising for the son of a friend who is very ill and we are trying to send him to New York for an operation. He has been on a consultation twice, and we are hopeful that he will have the operation in October......we need to raise a quarter of a million pounds!!!! Funds are being raised in Scotland, Ireland (where he lives), Sweden and London at present and the generosity of people knows no bounds.

However, this fundraising is detached from the Coffee Morning, and looking forward to the morning ...... it is always such a fun event as well as raising lots of cash. And the HG is the official photographer!!!!
