Berries

While passing through Eaglesham today the HG spotted a sign for the 'Sculpture House Museum'. We had never noticed this before, so being of a nosy nature, we investigated and walked down the lane to find what was more like a hut, but was all locked up. The HG doesn't give up easily, so he tapped the door of a cottage in the lane.

The gentleman who answered told us that it was always locked up, he suggested that we check with the library as he thought they might have the key. He then took us up the lane to the garden of a large house, which is full of statues. It was really good of him as he only had his socks on!!! Anyhow, we wandered around and he told us a bit about the history of the house, which is 17th century and very large, the frontage on Montgomery Street, but going back a long way, making a big house. Took a few photos of the statues, but would really like to see the ones in the Sculpture Museum.

They were sculpted by William Gemmel, it seems, who was a joiner ans sculpture who lived in Eaglesham in the 19th century. We will try to follow it up when we have more time.

The gentleman talked to us for quite a while, it seems he has lived in Eaglesham for forty years, his wife having been born in the village. He says that he is a 'blaw in', which is what locals call incomers, even after forty years!!!!

Interesting day. Nevertheless didn't get a blip I was satisfied with, so hope you like the berries.

Very dull today, but no rain.
