Bowood 2013 #25: George

I called in at the café behind the Kiosk at Bowood too late to have the cappuccino I was counting on as they were cleaning the machine, but they gave me the last filter coffee of the day free of charge. Win.

Thus refreshed, I called in at Tractor Ted's Little Barn to see what was occurring. As it turned out, two new calves had arrived that same day, Sam and George. The previous calves they had housed had been charolais or Belgian blue, both beef cattle, but these were dairy calves, five day old Fresians. George was bolder than Sam, who was lying down at the back of the pen, and allowed me to stroke him.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Pink Floyd - Atom heart mother (1970)
I witnessed the première of this piece, complete with the John Alldis Choir and a brass band, at the Bath Festival in Shepton Mallet on 28 June 1970, when it was announced as the Amazing Pudding. Their set began at three o'clock in the morning and the sun rose during this one, the finale of the set. The three-day festival cost 50/- (£2.50), and for me the other highlight was the Jefferson Airplane, which also took place in the small hours and had the few people who witnessed it dancing in the heavy rain that finally led to the performance being aborted.
