I am learning to take the weather as each day brings it. Keeping indoor jobs for rainy days and making the most of the sun when it flits from behind the clouds. The girls and I had great fun with my mum out and about in East Lothian - they raced ahead and we followed chatting about her childhood in France. My mother had a very hard upbringing and it made me sad to hear her speak - she suffered a lot of cruelty and lived in fear of her parents anger. Her happiest memory? Six months in a TB hospital when she was a teenager...
