And yet another productive day today (and I'm just taking a quick blip break before I delve back in!).
I had a nice break in the middle of the day today. My PhD student had managed to get through to the finals of the '3 minute thesis' competition, where graduate students give a round up of their entire research question in (you guessed it!) three minutes.
The finals were held at the brain centre at Melbourne Uni, and all ten finalists were very good. The whole thing was extremely polished. Unfortunately, she didn't win, but she can certainly be proud of herself because I thought that she did an excellent job!
Today's blip was taken on the way back to work after the event. I've not seen one of these guys in the wild before, and there were three together (a female and two males). I've had a good look now, and after thinking he was a rare orange-bellied parrot, I now think he's a much more common red-rumped parrot! Still very pretty though! :-)
