City of Sails
There's a gloomy feeling in Auckland today, with Emirates Team New Zealand losing the America's Cup decider to Oracle Team USA this morning. I'm guessing there's no prizes for assuming the water cooler topic of choice in many offices across NZ today...
Still, whilst 'we' may not have taken back the silverware (after all is there a country that cares so much about the Auld Mug like Aoeteroa?) at least we can take comfort that so much of the technology and participants involved hailed from these shores. So, are we the losers? I'll leave you to be the judge.
It's been a beautiful day up here today. It's great to be back in a big city again; it's only when I'm in amongst the concrete jungle that I realize how much I miss it, but at the same time how far I've come with my rural idyll. It's also great to catch up with friends and family, and do some of this big city things. We journey home tomorrow, our brief sojourn in the city ending before the weekend. It's then back to the dogs and the peace and quiet of country life. I can't wait, despite all the trappings this varied and quite beautiful city boasts.
This view is of the Auckland skyline across Okahu Bay. Favourite of boaties, and as you can see here, paddle boarders alike.
