New Glasgow Landmark

This is view from the Squinty Bridge showing a new landmark on the Glasgow Waterfront.

The Hydro will open its doors on Monday with a concert by Rod Stewart. It was created by the architects Foster and Partners, who also designed the Clyde Auditorium (The Armadillo).

The Hydro is Scotland's new national arena and has a capacity of 12,000 fully seated and will be the largest entertainments venue in Scotland. Modelled on Greek and Roman amphitheatres, the 45m tall building, with its distinctive silver dome, will stand higher than the neighbouring Armadillo. Translucent materials used in the facade will cause the building to appear to glow at night.
