Squinty Bridge
Last night was the start of a busy weekend. Our Mackintosh at the Grand tour started and I gave an illustrated talk at the Grand Central Hotel.
Today our tour started with a visit to our headquarters at the beautiful Mackintosh Church.
We then headed down to the Hunterian for a tour of the Mackintosh House. After taking the group round this wonderful house we then departed for an external view of Ruchill Church Hall. For lunch I took the group to one of my favourite buildings in the city, the Corinthian. The interiors of this building never disappoint.
After lunch we headed over to the southside for a tour of the Burrell Collection. Currently there is a temporary exhibition celebrating Sir William Burrell's magnificent collection of 19th Century French paintings and pastels. It includes many of the most famous names of the Impressionist period- Degas, Boudin, Fantin-Latour, Manet, Rodin, Cezanne, Pissarro, Renoir, Sisley and Gauguin.
On the way back into town I took the group over the Squinty Bridge to view the Armadillo, the new Hydro and then along to the Riverside before returning them to the Grand Central Hotel. It will all start again in the morning.
