Social Gatherings and the Divergence of Beans

So today was brilliant, we set up a stall in the fair in Uni to try and attract the attention of the magpie freshers. We were armed with beans, and, usually, smiles of welcome and cheer. It was a busy day, but we got rid of our 100 tins and we got a new 20 or so people all signed up and paid for this year, so it's looking good!

Tonight we had an acoustic night as well, with the marvelous James Peacock playing non-stop piano and sharing the love of God for us with our brand new tech system *squee*! It was fantastic, we had a really good turn out and it was lovely to catch up with people I've been missing over the summer, get thrashed at pool by friends, and generally just meeting and greeting new faces and learning their stories.

It's a wonderful thing, learning someone's story for the first time. It's kind of an intimate experience we all share, sometimes without even realising. It's like peeling back the first pages of your favourite book to a critic and watching them scan the front page with an eagle eye. It's terrifying, but exhilarating. I'm no social speaker, and I'm not very good at conversation, but I do take a subtle joy in learning people's stories. Because who knows? They might have crossed my path before, or we could have a shared experience that helps cement the tendrils of friendship.

It's been a good day!
