River Story

Running rest-day ...

... and have finished my backward countdown to National Poetry Day, so will need to improvise a bit until next Thursday :-)

Remembering that this year's theme is 'water' - here's a favourite children's book of mine - River Story - and the opening and concluding lines:


RIVER STORY

All rivers have a beginning ...
High in the mountains
the snow is melting.
Trickles of water are running together,
bubbling through moss,
dripping down ledges,
coming together into a stream.

... the river reaches
the edge of the land,
waves wash the sand,
and fresh water meets salt water.

The sea birds are calling.
The sea winds are blowing.
The journey is over.

It is a really wonderful book, with glorious illustrations on every page ... do just buy a copy if you ever see it ;-)
