Rapunzel or Sleeping Beauty?
We visited two fascinating places today, firstly Chartwell, the home of Sir Winston Churchill, and then Scotney Castle, both in Kent.
Both these properties are now owned and run by the National Trust. There is so much to say about them but I have chosen this photo as my blip of a great day in the wonderful Kent countryside, with glorious golden September sunshine to show the old buildings and their exquisite surroundings at their best.
This is the ruin of Scotney Castle, a romantic medieval castle surrounded by a wide moat at the bottom of a small valley, visible from the new house built in 1843. It is a contrived effect, but works as an example of the Picturesque landscape style, as the National Trust put it.
The last three days have provided plenty of photographic opportunities!
