Descending to Bath

Here we are descending through the lock system leading to Bath. The locks had to be installed in to quite a small area. In the past locks 8 and 9 were combined to form the second deepest lock in the British Isles.

It was hard to get a proper impression of its depth so this particular lock is one of its neighbours.

It was quite strange experience descending through it because it was so deep and bystanders appeared to be very high up and it was a bit like going down in to a black hole.
