Family portrait
I was driving all day on 25th, from Arbroath to Weybridge, so didn't manage to take my daily blip. I decided to take a lead from Beckett and post a vintage photograph.
This is my Granny, second from the right, with her sister, mother and father and, I think, her aunt. My Granny was born in 1895, so I guess this photo was taken in the 1920s. The family lived in the countryside in the Mearns in the East of Scotland, near the town of Fordoun. They had a small holding, but must have had a bit of money if they had a car.
My Granny was a bit of a rebel. During World War 1 she went to Glasgow to work on the trams. Later in life she was a domestic servant. When I was a child she lived in a flat next door to us and made us lunch in our school break every day.
