The Day after the Birthday Dinner

See yesterday's entry to understand the context. We had celebrated the 80th birthday of our colleague Sir Brian Smith yesterday evening.

We were welcomed the next morning (noon) by Brian and Lady Smith (Regina) to their home in Marston (just outside Oxford) for drinks and snacks. Brian doesn't look too jaded: a good way to be 80!

... and a good weekend of celebration. We are grateful to several of Brian's former students and research colleagues (David Gough, Geoff Maitland, Steve Daniels, for example) for organising all this.
