The last light of the day....

I struggled with my blip tonight. I had taken the dogs out on their afternoon walk as the sun was was very low in the sky and I had the crazy idea I would focus on something catching this last light of the day and throwing long shadows.

My initial efforts centred on the dogs but I never managed to get them in reasonable posing posture and they were a bit all over the place. When I did eventually get them to both sit down and look towards me Zoe closed her eyes !

Baxter has to be on the lead on the afternoon walk because there are roads nearby so I tend to have him tethered to my belt when I am taking photographs. As the best of the light and possible subjects were down by the pond I was constantly having dogs flitting across my field of view as they went exploring in the reeds. Most of the things that looked vaguely interesting tended to be in the rough grass so their shadows were hazy so my initial plan went out of the window.

By this time light was fading fast and I had to grab shots quickly. My final blip was chosen as the sun was still catching the dog rose and bud in the picture and the hover fly settled there for an instant.
