Transition

There was a hydrangea growing right next to our house when we bought it. We have never moved it, despite it's less-than-ideal location. I've been watching/reading a lot of British fiction lately and the word "constant" to describe a person comes up quite a bit. I would say that this shrub is constant. It is beautiful and reliable, even though the sun beats down on it during hot summer days.

One of its constant things is that a late bloom or two will show up every year. As you can see, this one is at a different stage than the rest. Today, as I put away the last of my warm-weather clothes and brought out the rest of my cold-weather wardrobe, it seemed as if this bright, young flower was a sign that spring will come again.

Meanwhile, the closet and entry are a bit bare as the summer hats have been stowed away and the winter hats and mittens are still in storage.
