The Sunshine Was Here Earlier

Really. It was a lovely morning that I occasionally glimpsed through my office window. But the afternoon just clouded over and there was nothing to blip on the way home apart the standby fountain and ducks. There are ducks in this somewhere.

Quite pleased with myself today as I now have a 3 day work week. 2 now that Monday is out the way.

To explain. Thursday is the 3rd Of October, that's a National Holiday here, to celebrate German reunification (der Tag der Deutschen Einheit) and for the first time I've got a Brückentag or "bridge day". That means I'm off on Friday as well. I

I'm really looking forward to that. 4 days off in a row. Super stuff.

You might be interested to know that if the 3rd falls on a Saturday or a Sunday, you don't get the following Monday off like you would do in Britain when Xmas Day is on a weekend. Nope. When that happens it's known as a Arbeitgeberstag (literally "work giver's day" or employer's day) and we downtrodden workers get heehaw. I was quite indignant about that when it was expained to me at first but now I'm OK with it.
