Saxon style....
Today I was on a school trip with year 5s and we visited a mock up of an Anglo Saxon village ... It was most interesting ... I just have one small gripe ... Forgive me for thinking that learning on school trips should be fun.. Yes ? I mean when last I looked we were not in the Victorian era ... So to my mind I would think that the people who worked at the 'village' would be a little bit nicer and maybe crack a tiny smile or be encouraging ... I won't lie to you readers ,I wanted to hit them. The moody folk are not to be confused with TJs excellent teaching staff.. Nope .. They are most fun to be with and the kids love them. Anyway after some den building and some learning to make fires (not sure I would have shown my Lucy and a couple of the lads how to do that so easily ... I saw the delight on their faces) and being able to have the packed lunch outside we then did some 'spinning' not our bodies,no it was wool ... Then we made authentic (laugh here) Saxon jewellery ... Ummmmmmm and I think some one did some whittling and some one found an outside toilet (hole in the dirt) mucho screaming and thrashing about and that was just me .... It was a good trip and tomorrow Lucy's off school as some of the teachers are striking and also we have Jake all day ..... I feel the need for a duck feeding session.
PS...blip of Saxon bread over Saxon fire thing and Lucy deemed the taste of the bread utterly disgusting like glue ....... Seems we have a secret glue taster in the family ......
