Welcome

to the "Gove-iet Union". (Not my term, but seen on Twitter)

Where it appears that educational policy is released via the national press on Sunday.

Where official press releases are released on Monday, which confirm that policy was agreed on Sunday.

Where goalposts appear move as if driven by their own politically controlled motors.

(Why would we NEED goalposts? It's education, not a game)

Where the minions teachers appear not be listened to, but instead labelled cheats.

Where divide and rule appears to be "de rigeur".

Where the very fundamental aspects of what education should be - forming well rounded, educated, decent human beings - appears to have been turned into a target driven sausage factory.

Where individualism is apparently not OK.

Where above average is the target for everyone... (think about it...)

Where hearts and minds appear to have been sacrificed for political footballing.

Fortunately, there are still thousands of us who will continue to do what is right for the children in the system and those that are still to walk through our doors, regardless of what our elected representatives decide our futures are.

Not cheat, not work shy, not lazy. Just wanting to contribute to the development of the next generation. I am not spouting cliches in saying that - I believe it. Because I have to believe in that fundamental principle of what this vocation is, as my colleagues nationally and internationally do. Without that belief, there would be no good reason to go to school every day because without that belief, that principle, what else is there?

Everything else is just humbug.
