The Chessmen Remember

(Remember the chessmen?)

It's suddenly October
so the chessmen have good reason
to turn their calendar's next page:
"Oh look - it's football season!"

The pawns are so excited,
it's their turn to star this month.
"Thee that," lisps one pawn, laughingly,
"the rook lookth thuch a dunthe!"

And if you have forgotten
this old game, then take a look,
unless, of course, you're lucky
and you own the chessmen's book!

Another day of dawn till dark fog and rain made me call on the chessmen to help me out. Found them poring over this calendar so I snapped them while they weren't looking!
