Stroll through Sherwood

The morning rose on Sherwood Forest & we found ourselves at one of the many play parks before our ten pin bowling date. Here Evie was talking to Ferguson & Gracie about grey & red squirrels & who is "nice" & who is "nasty"... The bowling was much fun & despite my history of frequent play, I still wasn't any good! Ferguson, however, has obviously inherited his father's ten pin talent because he was the child winner & generally got one of the best scores! Following some sweet treat, the 6 of us, & Nick headed off to the pool for some slides & splashes. Ferguson was such a scaredy cat at first but after a while & acquisition of a buoyancy aid, he was swimming off by himself. By 5pm, we had hire bikes in our possession & were racing around [with Gracie & Ferguson sat cozily in a trailer attached to Alex's bike...] getting lost trying to find out temporary home so we could get freshened up for Barry's birthday meal out at Strada.
We cycled back there too & I was astonished to see Ferguson eat all 3 courses of his meal -the main being a pizza-which he cited as one of the best things of the day...! Our wheeled transport gave us a head start to sort out the birthday cake. Marley did an expert job of delaying her Grandad whilst I lit the multitude of candles covering the top of the iced mountain I had created. It was well received & I ended up falling asleep on Alexander's lap whilst he watched his Saturday night stalwart, Match of the Day.
My bum was feeling pretty bruised & tender by this time... I don't think I've rode a bike since primary school, (& you could tell!!), I certainly could feel a 25 year lack of practice!
