Day 1: San Francisco
This place has so much to offer for a relatively small "city" in comparison to other cities in US. From first site above ground, you come to appreciate just how spread out this city is. Visited the De Young Museum today. It has some amazing American history artworks. Bonus was the beautiful landscaped gardens with interesting objects scattered around including the giant safety pin. Museum itself was brilliant. View from the 9th floor tower is definitely recommended. There is free entry to the tower. Back on the main Market Street, I was baffled by the number of homeless people in this city. Although they are harmless your natural instincts do kick in walking through each block. They carry their live's in shopping trollies and black plastic rubbish bags. The stench of them is another issue although you do see some trying to make a living by salvaging and selling anything (like a guy who was selling video cassette tapes). Remind me what year is this again? And then walking along it you see some big corporate names pop up including the Twitter HQ. On the road, things do get crazy here. Probably just as worse as some Asian cities (don't ask me why). Getting a taxi so far has proved to be like signing a death warrant and catching the bus here is definitely an experience too. All in a days worth of exploring. More to come later.
