Day 2: San Francisco
Another amazing day taking in the wonderful sights of this city. Highlights of the day are summed up in the picture: the Golden Gate Bridge and the Palace of Fine Arts. Started off in the exclusive neighborhood of Pacific Heights amongst the million dollar Victorian treasures and with the views to match. Then ventured down to the Palace of Fine Arts. I could not believe the shear size and the intricate work done on the Palace which stands almost 6 stories high. Not bad for something which was mainly designed to impress a princess. Well I certainly was anyways :) Golden Gate was next stop. Walked along the bay (which offers abundant picnic spots and parks). Recommend hiring out a Bike from Fisherman's Wharf if you dont want a long walk. The bridge is as one can imagine an engineering marvel and the views from it are breathtaking. You get to appreciate how big and beautiful San Francisco really is. Next stop was Fort Mason which is mainly an industrial junk with a functions complex. The route from Fort Mason to Fisherman's Wharf is quite relaxing. And then from Fisherman's Wharf to Pier 39 is littered with tourists and is quite commercial. Still a very nice area with some really funky shops. My favorite was the fine antiques and collectables shop. overall a very productive and tiring day. More to come later.
