When the tables are turned

This is a photo of a man who is typically on the other side of the lens. Paul Joseph Brown is an award-winning photojournalist. He worked 20 years as staff photographer with the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. In 2009, the Seattle P-I closed, leaving its staff with the challenge of being laid off in the worst economy in recent memory.

Paul has a true documentarian's eye, and his work has taken him to 16 countries on five continents to cover history unfolding, including wars and revolutions, elections, and natural disasters. Since the closure of the Seattle P-I, Paul has reinvented himself by expanding his already thriving business as a "wedding photojournalist" and then creating Ecosystem Photo which showcases his work as an environmental photojournalist.

He'll soon be expanding into yet another photographic niche which will take him to more far flung corners of the world. We met today to review some work I will be doing with several of his websites, and making plans for two others, down the road. After a lifelong career as a photojournalist, this is Paul's first encounter with blipfoto - let's give a fellow photographer a hearty welcome!
