Kicking off at Walmer Castle

or how to break all your toes in one move. Don't panic folks he didn't really make contact with it.

So, we packed our overnight bags and set off for the Kent Coast. First stop Walmer Castle. A very interesting visit. We were lucky with the weather, quite mild and dry.
Next stop into Deal where we had a stroll along the front and round the town. Visited Deal Castle. No prizes for guessing that we have been gifted English Heritage membership for a year.... got to make the most of it.

We then checked into the Royal Hotel in Deal. A charming hotel where Lord Nelson once stayed with Lady Emma Hamilton. After dinner, an evening stroll and 30 minutes trying to knock a plastic key ring down the shute of 2 pence shove machine in the amusement arcade (sad and childish, I know but we got the little blighter having only spent £1) we were completely exhausted and fell into a king size, extremely comfortable bed and slept like logs.
