Autumn mist, Bradford
Lister Park, also known as Manningham Park, is probably Bradford’s most popular park, It was sold to Bradford Corporation in 1870 by Sir Samuel Cunliffe Lister, a local mill owner, and in 1904 Cartwright Hall was built on the site of the former Manningham Hall with the aid of a major donation from Lister, by then Lord Masham. The park is dominated by Cartwright Hall which houses Bradford’s Civic Art Gallery. It also features various gardens, a boating lake, a bandstand, a bowling green, two tennis courts, a play area and a café as well as the art gallery, and there are several interesting sculptures in the grounds. Today’s scheduled visit to Bradford certainly did not appear to be very promising, with dull light and thick mist, but the visit to the park yielded quite a few rather attractive pictures and I had difficulty choosing one to upload, but thought the recently renovated bandstand looked rather nice in the misty autumnal conditions.
