Tourists
Our Kiwi pals are in town, so the day was spent being a tourist with them. I used to teach with L but she and N left the UK with a small boy and a baby girl, but now they’re a very large lad, T, and a young lady, S.
I met them in the museum and we had an hour or so there, wandering round the exhibits, then across to Greyfriar’s Bobby, of course. It’s been on the news recently about tourists having taken to rubbing Bobby’s nose for luck, but T couldn’t quite reach it - just as well, as there’s a petition to stop people doing this. Somebody obviously has a lot of time on their hands…
S is a big Harry Potter fan, so we called into the Elephant House where JK used to write.
A wander down to My Club, via the Castle. They loved the Club - we all had iPads, comfy seats and a refreshing drink.
Back at Leo’s house, bubbly opened, pizzas ordered and a pleasant evening ensued. N is a keen photographer, and is quite keen to become a blipper, but we had a lot of problems getting him logged on, mainly because he kept giving different passwords, then forgetting them. Luckily his son, T was much more computer literate!
N loved my camera and was very jealous. He kept fondling it at every opportunity. He had just bought a compact camera- who wants a big DSLR and several lenses when travelling?
All in all, a good day being a tourist in my own city.
