cold comfort

There were mini twisters in the lane as I scurried down for a good view of sunrise. Fallen leaves were swirled and dropped although the morning seemed otherwise still. Sunrise was a cold affair, colour but no warmth and a portent of more cold days to come. Away to the east a majestic bank of grey cloud loomed as if in turmoil.
