Arbour reflections at Al-Ru Farm

Our day started out with an early visit to the Wayville Farmers' Market, and the taking of 20 or so photos to get things off to a good start. Plus the buying of the usual free range eggs, home made pies, fruit and vegetables etc.

Then it was onto our first Open Garden of the new season at Al-Ru Farm, a unique garden enterprise NE of the city at a small village called One Tree Hill, half way between Adelaide and the Barossa Valley.

Al-Ru is far more than a brilliant garden. It is a 12 acre cattle stud farm, has a Vet practice, produces olive oil, caters for wedding, B&B, and they also sell antiques.

It's such a wonderful place, we so look forward to our annual visit along with lunch. The garden is huge and more plantings and new areas are added each year. There is a lake, a small airstrip and a display area where many different garden suppliers had set up booths.

For my blip I went straight to my favourite part of the garden, the Arbour where there is a pond, flanked by some beautiful Corinthian columns.

Arbour in spring.

This place is an internationally renowned home, garden and Garden Pavillion which has been featured in many magazines, coffee table books and television programs.

Al-Ru is a perfumed garden delighting the senses. Filled with pergolas, arbours, bowers, a lake and ponds, shady glades. It offers amazing vistas and inspiration for all photographers who are lucky enough to visit.
