The last of the summer bees

The bees are almost gone now, but we still get the occasional one or two.
This is cropped quite a lot from my original and the reason the background is a brick color is because of the terra cotta flower pot that I used as a backdrop hoping to get a photograph of a bee. Much patience and many shots later I got a few that were ok.
It was taken from about 14 feet away with a 400 mm lens at f2.8 and 1/400 sec ISO 200 on a Nikon D700.

The camera was on a tripod with a remote flash to eliminate as much shadow under the flower head as possible. The lens was pre -focussed on the top of the pollen and triggered remotely when a bee landed on the flower.
