Gazing out to sea
Backblipped 7th October
Woke to a lovely grey sea mist this morning but it wasn't raining - hurrah! - so we headed off for a wee cliff top walk.
Parked at the top of Kynance Cove and tried to figure out where the path was in the thick mist - it was so bad we nearly bumped into some cows that were having a wee sit down! And whilst we couldn't really see the sea it did make for some amazing misty cobwebs - they were everywhere!
The other downside to the mist was that I ended up with soaking wet hair and mascara half way down my face. Worst of all was James only told me after we'd spent a good few minutes speaking to another couple walking the other way. It really wasn't a good look!
Ended up down at Lizard Point and headed back up to the village for one of Ann's famous pasties and coffee.
The weather improved on the way back and we actually got some sunshine peeking through which was lovely. Also stumbled across the most enormous patch of wild mint so we filled a bag full with some! Stopped for a coffee and cake down at Kynance Cove - was so lovely in the sunshine - and then had another wee stop on the rocks as you headed back up to the carpark to sit and admire the view. The cows had moved into the carpark when we got back up there and they didn't look quite so scary when you could see them properly - and they're definitely a lot more friendly than the ones around here! Though unfortunately don't really know how far we walked as my WalkMeter couldn't get a proper signal to work - worked all the way round my Sahara trek but not in Cornwall!
After a quick shop in Helston we had another swim - heating was fixed but the pool was definitely not up to temperature! However dinner of black pudding, scallops and pea purée followed by cod and chorizo stew soon revived us! As well as the absolutely baking fire - not sure we'll need to be lighting that again!
Scrabble update:
James used all 7 letters with freezer - we weren't sure of the extra points as I don't think we've ever managed it before but settled on 50 so he got 85 total so he's beginning to catch up with me!
Pasty scores:
James 8 (tasty but a bit too hot)
Jenny 7 (not hot enough)
And the last time my boys got blipped at Kynance Cove.
