You can try hiding but I can see you!!!!!

Finally a Bearded Tit photo. I actually did a little jig of excitement. This isn't the best pic but this one made me giggle.

Went down to Minsmere today as the weather is on the turn and the warm, mild days are numbered. Had noticed that Beardies had been seen regularly over last few days but wasn't hopeful of a photo. They are flighty little blighters.

The day started well with 3 Golden Plover (too far away to photograph) and a fleeting glimpse of a flying Water Rail but there was very little else about.

Made my way down to the Island Mere Hide and it was clear that there WERE Beardies about as the distinctive 'pinging' could be heard. Someone coming from the hide told me that they had been very visible half an hour earlier (grrrrrrr!!) so I hung about on the boardwalk with a few other hopeful birders.

Sure enough they (the Beardies not the birders) started to flit about in the reeds but never staying still enough to photograph. Then a little beauty landed in a nearby shrub. FINALLY a decent shot or two. Click here and here to see better shots.

I was SO chuffed, a Bittern could have tap danced past and I wouldn't have been bothered!

The 3 Great White Egrets are still in residence but again, too far away for decent photos.

Headed back to the visitor centre via the Bittern Hide. No Bitterns or Marsh Harriers today but this sweet creature came trotting along the path. Talk about doe eyes!!

Autumn is definitely here. Think the colours will be fabulous though hope we don't get Autumn storms.
