The Spider and the Fly
After yesterday's Bearded Tit excitement (please have a look if you haven't already) back to a homespun (see what I did there?) blip.
Spiders and their webs are everywhere at the moment. This was one of several on the Beech hedge. It had caught lots of flies - you can just about make out a couple in this shot. Reminded me of the poem.
The Spider and the Fly
“Will you walk into my parlour?” said the Spider to the Fly,
'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to shew when you are there.”
“Oh no, no,” said the little Fly, “to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair
-can ne'er come down again.”

It is already pitch dark outside and only 7 o'clock. The 'back end' of the year, as my Grandad called it, is well upon us.
