Cup of tea anyone?
I am a tea-jenny.
As a teenager I liked my PG Tips strong enough to stand the spoon up in. This stage of tea drinking lasted a good ten years and then on a visit to Canada my good friend Irene gave me a cup of Earl Grey tea. It rocked my world, suddenly the strong tea clawed at my mouth and unless my tea was weak and smelled of talcum powder I couldn’t drink it. It was at this point I became a fan of Twinings tea, their recipe for Earl Grey was my favourite.
When Robin and I got together I wooed him into my Earl Grey world and we thought we would never change. Then a doctor told Robin to cut down on his caffeine so he started to drink green tea with cranberry and to be supportive, so did I. One day he picked up pure cranberry instead and from that day on we tried every fruit flavour Twinings produced. We now drink Pomegranate and Raspberry flavour as our main tea and have a cup of Earl Grey every now and then if we are feeling daring.
Of course, in the interim, Twinings have changed the recipe of UK Earl Grey to much outrage from British fans. Luckily I had a box of 100 bags at this time and I am still only half way through it. My friend Ann informed me that the international version of Earl Grey is still the old recipe and so I bought a couple of boxes on holiday abroad to make sure I have enough stock. Now I see Twinings actually provide the old recipe on their website under the product name of “Earl Grey, the Classic Edition”.
I do buy tea on-line simply because we drink so much of it the supermarkets and tea shops never have enough boxes of our preferred flavour to keep us going. Twinings were kind enough to send us the model van in the picture. Loyal customers indeed!
I am drinking a cup of tea as I write this blip and my question to you my blip friends is……what is your favourite cuppa?
