Promises

Today I discovered a whole area of these mushrooms. They look delicious, they smell delicious and they are, I am pretty sure, Boletus Granulatus. That is what my big mushroom guide tells me (Simon & Schusters). So could be eaten!
Boletus in Reno, of course on nicely sprinkled lawns underneath pine trees, what a nice surprise!
But years ago I promised not to eat any mushrooms I would find here in Reno after a dish of wood mushrooms (Agaricus silvicola) wasn't such a success. Had a nasty evening after that. Many of the mushrooms I find here are looking a little different from what they looked like in Germany. So, I admit, I might be fooled - but oh it is sooo hard not to try.
I need to find an expert here in town!
