The O2 and Canary Wharf from the Cable Car
On a beautifully warm and sunny day we took a trip to the docklands area starting with a visit to the O2 Arena which I had never been to before. From here we took a ride 100metres in the air across the Thames cable car from where this picture was taken.
After a walk around the Royal Victoria Dock we returned across the river for a walk along the Thames Path which can be seen in the shot around the outside of the arena where much building work is taking place before taking the tube to Canary Wharf for lunch.
A ride aboard the Docklands Light Railway took us to the Olympic area for fine views of the stadium and surroundings where again a vast amount of civil engineering work is taking place. After a tea stop at an unusual cafe constructed of metal containers which served the cheapest and best tea in London complete with a panoramic view of the Olympic Park we returned by rail and tube to East Molesey. I now have to start packing for the return journey home after a fabulous holiday.
