Common Terns at Arbroath

Annoyingly when we dipped on the Pectoral Sandpiper at Forfar a couple of days ago it was reported as being there later that day (and yesterday), so today we're heading back. On arrival we were pleased to find another birder watching it. He pointed it out to us, but neither of us could find it. It was unbelievably well camouflaged. I'm quite convinced that we probably overlooked it a couple of days ago. Anyway you'll need to head over to RCB if you want to see a well camouflaged Pectoral Sandpiper. Ok, when it's a big bird in the centre of a photo it might not look that difficult to find, but it was, trust me.

We then headed on to Arbroath harbour where I took today's photo of Common Terns stopping off on their migration south. A visit to the fish & chip shop then back to our sea-watching car park where the Arctic Skua was still giving the Terns a hard time.
