Lesser Yellowlegs at Cliffe Pools

You may remember that before we went up to Perth we had a couple of excursions to try and see a Spotted Crake. I caught a glimpse of one but Mrs L missed it. Well while we'd been away there'd been one showing really well and fairly closely at Oare Marshes, so that's where we're heading today.

After four hours of watching the ditch behind the East Hide we gave up. Off to Cliffe Pools for a Lesser Yellowlegs that's been around for a few days. At least it won't be skulking in the reeds, but it's quite a mobile bird and Cliffe Pools cover a rather large area.

I've seen a Lesser Yellow legs before on one of my early twitches back on 25th October 2010, but Mrs L didn't join me that day, so it'll be a new bird for her, and it was. Our luck turned for the better, although it was a longish walk to the bird and it wasn't exactly close, but for Cliffe Pools it was as close as it was going to be and although we were viewing it into the sun it did take a wander to our left into some darker water that allowed for reasonable photos.
