St James Louth
Louth's skyline in Lincolnshire is dominated by St. James' Church, the spire of which is 295 feet (90 m) tall and visible for miles in all directions.
Shorter than both Norwich Cathedral 315 feet (96 m), and Salisbury Cathedral 404 feet (123 m), nevertheless in terms of spire height it is reputedly the tallest Anglican parish church in the United Kingdom.
The church itself was built in 1515 and is one of the starting points for the Camino St Jacques, the pilgrimage which leads across the Pyrenees to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
Here is the spire, bathed in late afternoon sunshine, against a threatening, black, eastern sky.
