West Pennine Moors

Some days work is just too hard ....not! If you didn't know I manage a charity that makes grants to community and environmental projects. i am currently vetting a whole raft of applications from a composting toilet for a church to a wildflower and bee project. One of the schemes I have to vet is the repair to a moorland footpath. Part of it was done a number of years ago but a final 1 mile section needs to be done. One of the objectives of the scheme will be to reduce the erosion of the moorland leading to the fragile moorland plants recolonizing the eroded peat. The section of path already done has led to significant re-vegetation. It's a piece of moorland that I know well but I still needed to go for an inspection. The plan is to use stone flags to create the path. The remoteness and inacessibilty of the path means part of the cost of the job will require a chopper to air lift the flags and they don't come cheap. The image is from Spitlers Edge looking towards Darwen Tower and Pendle Hill (both have featured in the past on blip).
